About this alpaca
Granite is an eye-catching male with a very long silky fleece in a two-tone rose grey colour. He has excellent independence of lock and lustre – unusual in a grey. He also has a very fine fleece – 17.5 micron at 21 months of age.
Granite is from imported black male ILR ABF Riptide’s Ultimate Black whose progeny are really making a mark in Australian suri breeding. His dam has produced a number of silver and rose grey progeny from black and fawn males. The same mating resulted in a dark silver grey female in 2013.
Despite a tender fleece, which kept him out of the show ring as a junior, he was shown as an intermediate and adult, winning Best Grey at every outing except one. This includes the 2012 National, 2013 Royal Canberra and 2013 Royal Sydney, as well as Colourama 2012 and 2013.
Granite is a very stylish, true-to-type suri with a real wow factor.
